PREPARATION FOR END TIMES (SUNDAY MORNING, MAY 28, 2017)
Prophecy concerning end times: “…And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt…But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” (Daniel 12:1-4)
Tower of Babel: “And the whole earth was of one language and of one speech…And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth…And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from, which they have imagined to do.” (Genesis 11:1-6)
Signs of the end times: “…Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.” (2 Thessalonians 2:1-4)
Conclusion: We as the church must always be ready for the end times, regardless of how close or far away those times are. We prepare by loving God wholeheartedly and by loving our neighbors so that they might love God as well. Beware exalting yourself above God or His kingdom. You are a living sacrifice. You have the Holy Spirit, so share Him with others.
FATHERS DAY 2017
In the gospel of John alone, Jesus references the Father over 100 times. He often compares and contrasts between earthly fathers and our Heavenly Father.
“But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind to the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.” (Luke 6:35-36)
This is an attribute of the Father in us by the Holy Spirit as new creatures in Christ. Earthly fathers do not always get it right, but our spiritual Father is always good and right. As His children, we can demonstrate that goodness and righteousness, His kindness and mercy.
No man can be a true father without Father God, without the Spirit of He who is the one true father. Then we can be spiritual parents instead of just worldly parents.
