CONVEYING THE GOSPEL (SUNDAY MORNING OF OCTOBER 30, 2016)
Name five things about the gospel: (Following is an example.)
1) Jesus is the visible form of the invisible God.
2) He sacrificed Himself to pay for our sins.
3) This payment gives us salvation, meaning that we get eternal life in heaven.
4) He gives us this by grace because He loves us.
5) We just have to accept this gift in faith.
The gospel is the good news of Christ, the Messiah, the Savior, Son of man and Son of God. How do we convey the gospel to those who did not know Jesus? We express His love and sacrifice to the people around us.
What did you pray to receive your salvation? Maybe you prayed for God to reveal the truth of who He is. Maybe this was the catalyst for your salvation. This might have happened instantaneously, or it might have occurred over time. Was it love at first sight, or did you fall in love over time?
The enemy, the world, and even your own flesh might try to deny the gospel. Remember that the truth is the truth, no matter how you "feel" about it. Feelings cannot conquer the truth!
"Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuad men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences...For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead...For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." (2 Corinthians 5:11-21)
LOVING ONE ANOTHER (SUNDAY MORNING OF NOVEMBER 13, 2016)
"But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in him, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him." (1 John 2:27)
"Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world." (1 John 4:17)
"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds..." (2 Corinthians 10:4)
"...Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake...And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise...A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh." (Luke 6:20-45)
