I took off from Yei excepting to get to chukudum by the next day. Well what an adventure I had traveling for four days before I got out to the area. The roads are so ruff in that area only four wheel drive vehicles can get out there. Half way back on the road and the tire blew. Off we got from the vehicle with luggage and all and from 3;30 to 7:30 at night we trekked along the path to Chukudum. I was completely wiped out by the time I got there. I ended up staying at a Catholic parish for the night with some big priest guys that had come in for the Easter Sunday. Just simple little me with these big guys. It was a great time though and I was fed some food which was the only real meal I had had since the day before.
Finally on the fifth day I met with Dominic and Hector the leaders of the Iris work here in the area. What a great time we had meeting together and sharing our hearts. God is really doing a work here in this place. I got to meet the children that they have taken in even as there own kids. Kids who have lost both of there parent and don’t have the help they need. We gathered around together and sang songs of worship as we praised our King Jesus.
I got to celebrate Easter with the Church they have planted in Chukudum and share the power of Jesus Christ with the believers here. The following day we took off by foot about an hour away to a place called Khartima. What a blessed time we had there. I got to see the school that they had built through Iris and also where they are meeting for worship as they are pioneering a new church in this area. The kids sung songs of welcome and blessing as is the custom here to welcome me to there school. Half of the class meets in the thatched roof school room and the other class out under the big shady tree.
I share with the kids and encouraged them in there studies and to seek Jesus above all. We were getting ready to leave and the Holy Spirit was putting on my heart so strong that I need to share the gospel with the kids that are here. I asked if its ok to share my testimony. So I was able to share the Gospel with the kids in a real clear way through my own story. I asked who wanted to experience the same and give Jesus the rest of there lives. Even I think every kid there responded. Only God knows where there hearts are at but the Gospel was heard and kids came into the Kingdom today.
We spent the next day as well going back to the area and visiting family there. There is no other church in the area of Khartima except for this one. Up and down the mountain we climbed visiting the leaders patents and relatives there. I was a able to help build with the community on a new tukal ( what we would call a hut). God opened the door to pray with everyone there and share with them about the love of Jesus.
The people of the community are so hungry and they are eager for a real structure to be built here for a church and another class room for the school. They have even prepared things and now are just waiting for us to help with materials that they can not make from the trees, mountains and rocks. There is hunger for truth and were there is hunger there needs to be a filling.
From there we got ready to head a ways farther from there to Kikali, the are that they first started from. After a 2 21/2 hour bike ride we got to the compound. Right at the foot of the mountains. On all side mountains were surrounding us. This was the first time I remember seeing the stars sparkling like blinking Christmas lights. It was so breathtaking. Me and Jesus had some special time together just talking under the open heaven.
No other Church is in this area. There is no other school in this place either. It was wonderful to see what God was doing in such a dark place. There is a real shortage of water as well and we had to walk at least a half hour to get drinking water and a half hour back. Its good exercise.
What a welcoming village as well. Here they gave me a goat as a welcoming gift for visiting there village. I had also received one and a chicken in the other village. That is what we eat for most of the time there. On Sunday when we gathered together, the church was completely packed full. The word of God was shared with signs following. There were a number of Children and some adults that committed there life to Jesus Christ for the first time. Yea God! One of the most powerful miracles of healing that day was something the people could see or feel the difference. One young girl who there are giving food to and taking care of was extremely hot from a fever. She had some bad malaria. We prayed and continued to pray until fever just left and her body became cool. There were other healings but this one we told some of the mommas that had felt her before come and feel her body and we rejoice in amazement of what God had done. Showing Himself stronger then malaria stronger then witchdoctors and all kids of sicknesses.
We took off from that area for a two hour trek across the mountains to another village called Loraima. It is a more populated and there is not a single church in the place. The gospel has been preached here but leaders have not been raised up and the fullness of the Gospel is still yet to be shared. We went to the main dirt road which was what we would call a pathway and prayed all together over the land. Calling forth leaders here and peoples eyes to see the truth that the Church of Christ would be exalted here through the softened hearts of people. We met one old man who we shared with and he was there for all the time of prayer. We know he will go and tell the whole place about what he saw as we came to visit and pray for a church to be raised up there.
God is so good all the way from climbing mountains to playing soccer with the kids and seeing the sick healed the lost coming to Jesus. What greater life could we be living? What greater adventure could there be?
One of the guys named Peter who is now starting to lead one of the newly planted churches in Khartima once was one of the guys who used to raid cattle from other tribes (which is a common practice among some of the different tribes) was led to the Lord through Dominic and Hector, the main leaders here and is now leading the move of God here in the place of Khartima. It shows the redeeming work of Jesus at work in lives of real people.
I was so encouraged by the work I saw going on here. They told me that they were extremely encouraged by my coming. I was the first Iris person to come out and really see what they are doing and encourage them here.
Please remember them in your prayers that God would provide the means for them to continue the work and even expand the Kingdom of God to new areas which is there heart. Pray for money for the food for the kids that they are taking care of, pray for revival and true repentance to break out. Pray for the houses , schools and church buildings to be able to be built. Pray that God would give them the land they need to do the full work He has called them to do. Ha-ha Jesus Rules!
If anyone feels led to give to this Iris work way out in the bush just contact me and I will find out how that can be sent to them. They are completely trusting God for all there needs. So I want to share that as well. What God is doing there is the real deal.
God did so many other things and I have a lot of stories to tell but space doesn’t allow me to share it all. I will tell more of glories of Gods work here when I get back. I hope each one of you are encouraged through this and drawn closer to Daddy Gods heart to reach every man and woman and child through what I have shared.
